New York, London, Tokyo, Haverhill! The world renowned musicians of the North Country Chamber Players return to Court Street Arts for an exciting program.
Walt Disney’s brilliant use of Paul Dukas’ evocative concert piece, ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ grew out of a chance encounter, in a Los Angeles restaurant, between Disney and the legendary conductor, Leopold Stokowski. The resulting animated concert, ‘Fantasia’, was a masterpiece that changed our ideas about music and movies, forever. In this program, which features, by popular demand, the return of soprano Sara Heaton, now singing with the Metropolitan Opera, a chamber version of Dukas’ work is paired with powerful music by some of the greatest composers of film, opera and theater scores, Verdi, Korngold and Bernstein.
