Pine Hill Singers present “Curtain Up!”
The Pine Hill Singers will perform a show-stopping concert of the best-loved music from the stage and screen. Modern film scores and new musical theatre hits will be featured alongside classics that have stood the test of time as the popular choir returns to some of the music that is closest to its heart. Musical Director Judy Abbott, along with pianist Anita Bonnevie, will lead the singers through favorites from the classical musicals Gypsy, Annie Get Your Gun and Meet Me in Saint Louis, together with more recent hits from Wicked, Little Women, Phantom of the Opera, and Ragtime. There will also be a steamy number from The Pajama Game, a comedy number from Sister Act, and much, much more. Just about every arrangement will feature solos or duets from the chorus.
Admission for both concerts is by donation.
The Pine Hill Singers have brought outstanding choral performances to the local area for more than 20 years. Their thematic concerts feature an eclectic variety of music from classical to contemporary, Broadway to pop, and patriotic to global. They sing to promote social justice, musical excellence – and fun! Now 22 strong, the singers are of diverse professions, musical abilities, ages and life experiences. The close knit women from NH and VT meet weekly, and from this weekly collaboration they know the personal healing as well as the community connections found in the joy of music. “This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.” This quote, attributed to Leonard Bernstein, has been inserted in their programs since 9/11. Many of their concerts benefit and promote local non-profits. Each of the last ten years they have contributed awards to musically talented high school graduates throughout northern NH and VT.
