Celebrate the season with the Pine Hill Singers’ holiday concert – “Music for a Wintry Eve!” Winter’s chill is no match for the warm sentiments of our richly varied music from around the world and across the ages. We are also pleased to include the wonderful special addition of string, percussion & vocal soloists. Selections include uplifting Christmas spirituals, a Celtic ‘I Saw Three Ships’, the contemporary moving pieces ‘Tundra’ by acclaimed Ola Gjeilo and ‘Cradle Hymn’ by Kim Andre Arnesen accompanied by string players. Also feel-good holiday tunes from France, Scotland, Norway, Britain and America. ‘Believe’ from the movie ‘The Polar Express’ will warm you; and‘Santa Baby’ and a song about ‘Fruitcake’ will make you smile.
For more than 18 years, the Pine Hill Singers have brought outstanding performances to the local area. Our concerts include a large repertoire from classical to jazz, Broadway to patriotic, and serious to silly. The close knit choral singers from NH and VT meet weekly, and from this weekly sharing of music, we know the personal healing as well as the community outreach in the joy of music. Just after 9/11 we began to insert a quote on all of our programs attributed to Leonard Bernstein – “This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.” Thus the Pine Hill Singers have established a fund for future musicians. In June 2015 we selected our seventh award recipient, Damien McGuire, a clarinetist from Lisbon High School.
Come, let us warm your heart and soul this winter season with our “Music for a Wintry Eve! “
